About the Role Our client, a leading retail and consumer-focused organization, is seeking a Senior Java Backend Engineer to help build and enhance the scalable systems that power enterprise-level digital experiences and data-driven solutions. In this role, you will design, develop, and optimize microservices and APIs that support high-volume applications, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to modern cloud-based architectures.
Job Description As a Senior Java Backend Engineer, you will play a key role in developing and maintaining robust backend systems that support mission-critical applications. You will work closely with engineering, product, data, and analytics teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and high-performing solutions.
Responsibilities include: - Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
- Build and support microservices architectures that integrate with internal and external platforms.
- Develop and optimize RESTful APIs and system integrations.
- Work with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including BigQuery, to support data-driven applications and services.
- Collaborate with data engineering, data science, and product teams to deliver scalable solutions.
- Implement best practices for software development, security, performance, testing, and documentation.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues within distributed systems and backend environments.
- Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering standards and processes.
- Leverage modern development tools and emerging technologies, including generative AI solutions, to improve application capabilities and developer efficiency.
Qualifications Required Qualifications: - Strong proficiency in Java and experience developing applications with Spring Boot.
- Experience working with Kafka and MongoDB in production environments.
- Deep knowledge of API development, RESTful services, and microservice architectures.
- Experience with system integrations and distributed backend systems.
- Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including BigQuery.
- Experience with NoSQL databases and data modeling for large-scale applications.
- Understanding of modern backend frameworks, software design patterns, and scalable architecture principles.
- Experience working within Agile software development environments.
- Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience supporting large-scale retail, e-commerce, or consumer-facing platforms.
- Familiarity with Apache Hadoop or other enterprise data platforms.
- Experience implementing or integrating generative AI (GenAI) technologies into applications or workflows.
- Experience with cloud-native architectures and containerized environments.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and DevOps practices.
- Experience designing highly available and fault-tolerant distributed systems.
